Today during his Destination D23 keynote opening speech, Josh D’Amaro, Chairperson of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, revealed that an actor from the Guardians of the Galaxy films will be a part of the upcoming ride at Walt Disney World.
In a special video, actress Glenn Close announced she will be reprising her role as Nova-Prime Irani Rael, the Xandarian leader and commander of the Nova Corps, in the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind attraction opening at EPCOT in 2022.
D’Amaro also released some concept images from the coaster, which he stated would “be one of the longest fully enclosed coasters in the world.”
These art renderings are of the Xandar Gallery (aka the ride queue), where guests will discover more about the Xandarian people, culture and history, including the Guardians of the Galaxy members.
Finally, an official attraction poster was revealed:
The new attraction is in the park‘s recently renamed World Discovery Neighborhood, at the site of the former Universe of Energy pavilion, which will now be called the Wonders Of Xandar pavilion. GOTG movie director James Gunn is working with Disney Imagineers to build this attraction as a fun extension of the movies.
What do you think? Are you excited for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind attraction?
I can’t wait for the Opening of the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at Epcot! This will be in my Thrill list next year!
