R.L. Stine’s ‘Just Beyond’ Series Debuts on Disney+ October 13, 2021

Inspired by the writings of R.L. Stine, “Just Beyond” is a creepy new teen series hitting Disney+ today, October 13.

According to the streamer, the eight-episode anthology series tells “astonishing and thought-provoking stories of a reality just beyond the one we know.”

Each episode will introduce viewers to a new cast of characters who must go on a journey of self-discovery in a supernatural world of witches, aliens, ghosts and parallel universes.

Stine is a prolific author of young-adult horror fiction, including the “Goosebumps” and “Fear Street” series, and has been scaring readers worldwide for over 35 years. The show’s creators referenced his popular page-turners while developing their new series of hair-raising stories.

Those creators include Seth Grahame-Smith, who serves as writer, showrunner, and executive producer on “Just Beyond.” His past work includes being the author of the bestselling novels “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” and “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,” and the screenwriter of Tim Burton’s “Dark Shadows” and “The Lego Batman Movie.”

“I grew up watching ‘Twilight Zone’ reruns and the original ‘Amazing Stories’ with my parents,” said Grahame-Smith in a press release. “I’ve always wanted to make a genre anthology series that families could enjoy together, and do it in a way that delivered for kids and adults alike.”

Actors appearing in the anthology’s first season include Mckenna Grace (Disney XD’s “Crash & Bernstein,” and the upcoming “Ghostbusters: Afterlife), Nasim Pedrad (“Chad,” and “Saturday Night Live”), Henry Thomas (“E.T.,” “The Haunting of Hill House”), Rachel Marsh (“iCarly”), Megan Stott (“Yes, Day”), Lexi Underwood (“Little Fires Everywhere”), and Christine Ko (“Dave”).

All eight episodes of “Just Beyond” will debut at once, as a part of Hallowstream on Disney+.

I’m definitely going to check it out as I’m a fan of both Stine and Grahame-Smith. Are you going to watch?
