It appears that the California Grill restaurant at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will be hosting a special dining experience in honor of Walt Disney World‘s 50th anniversary celebration.
A message on the restaurant’s page at the park’s website states that reservations for California Grill will not be available after October 2, 2021 to allow them to set up the “experience.”
According to the park’s social media, the restaurant will reopen for bookings later in the year, and feature a limited-time menu with items inspired by the restaurant’s history.
That history spans all the way back to 1995, when the California Grill first opened on top of the Contemporary.
It was previously the Top of the World Restaurant when the space first opened on October 1, 1971, with the rest of Walt Disney World.
No word on the exact date California Grill will be accepting reservations for this limited menu experience, but as soon as I hear something official, we’ll let you know.
As for the menu, what past dishes would you like to see on the menu? Are there any personal favorites that you miss? Let us know in comments.
We walked out of California Grill 25 years ago when there was nothing we would eat….truffle oil? It was something like squid or octopus? Unusual sauces and reductions? How about something normal….
How about trying something new sometime? You might find that those “unusual sauces and reductions” are actually quite delicious.
Chef Mickey’s is just a few floors down, plenty of “normal” food there. Menus are available in advance as well.
