The phased reopening of Walt Disney World begins on May 20th in a slow fashion. It will start with just a few third-party operators opening their doors at Disney Springs. We’re still a few days away, but already a couple dining locations have decided to announce they will be open.
Wine Bar George has announced that it will reopen starting at Noon on the 20th; saying on their website that “We are committed to ensuring a safe environment for our guests and team members.”
In addition to complying with phase one restrictions on capacity, Wine Bar George will use contactless menus available on guest mobile devices and encouraging contactless payment options. Plus they will clean, disinfect, and sanitize each dining area after every use.
You can book a table at Wine Bar George via Opentable, but they’re going fast. Other restaurants at Disney Springs with reservations available on Opentable include Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill and STK Orlando.
Update: we can add the YeSake kiosk, The Polite Pig, 4 Rivers Cantina Barbacoa Food Truck, and Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC to the list.
So far that’s the list of Disney Springs dining locations that have officially announced reopening.
Some employees have reported that both Starbucks and Häagen-Dazs Ice Cream will reopen on the 20th as well, but we don’t have confirmation of that in terms of website hours updates or from their social media accounts.
There’s also a list of locations we know won’t be opening. Splitsville and Chef Smith’s Homecoming are on that list, so is Raglan Road Irish Pub. All have said they’re still evaluating how and when to open safely for guests and cast members.
We also know from the original announcement that none of the Disney owned locations will open. That includes Deluxe Burger, Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar, Aristocrepes, Amorette’s, and BB Wolf’s Sausage Co.
We know we will have more locations to put in the open or closed column later this week. But we don’t expect too many other sit-down dining locations ready to open on the 20th.
Remember this is just the very first baby step of opening at Walt Disney World, none of the resort hotels, theme parks, or stores will open on May 20th.
We know it’s important to be cautious as businesses reopen and we hope all guests will obey safety obligations like wearing masks and keeping six feet apart from other parties.
We do look forward to a chance to return to Wine Bar George to sample their wine selection and great service.
We’re also sure that the cast members at each location will be happy to welcome back guests, so if you go, please be sure to tip big.
We will update this post when we hear about more locations.
