In 2019 the NBA brought the future of the sport to Walt Disney World’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in the form of the Jr. NBA Global Championships. The event features the top 13- and 14-year-old boys and girls basketball plays in the world.
Make plans to be at ESPN WWOS August 13-16 to see 16 domestic and 16 international teams compete against each other for the title of Jr. NBA Global Champions.
Last year saw the US Central region girls team repeat as Jr. NBA Global Champions while the US West team claimed the title for the boys.
The event features an opening ceremony along with skills and slam dunk competitions.
The Jr. NBA Global Championship is a great event for the athletes as in addition to the tournament games, they get to compete in ‘friendly’ matches with international players.
The big games get the full TV sports broadcast experience complete with announcers, half-time entertainment, and player profiles.
Stars of the NBA and WNBA are also on hand to provide some coaching and important life skills as the young players begin their journey of excellence on and off the court.
We’d love to see even more events celebrating talented youth athletes at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, but if you are looking for one to attend in 2020, Jr. NBA is a good choice.
