A walk-around tour of Disney’s Riviera Resort (Video)

With its opening on December 16th 2019, Disney’s Riviera Resort became the newest part of the Disney Vacation Club Resort family. It is now the 15th DVC resort but that does not mean non-club members cannot stay there. In fact, when a new DVC resort opens it is usually a good time for non-DVC members to book a room. Whether you are a member or not, this is the first brand new resort to hit Disney World Property since 2012 and guest can expect it to be a hot commodity for that reason.

Molly and I decided to spend a day checking it out recently to give you guys an idea of what this resort has to offer. We parked at Hollywood Studios and took the Skyliner over to Carribean Beach Resort and, due to the great weather, decided to walk over to the new Riviera Resort.

One of my favorite parts about this resort right off the bat is its connection to Carribean Beach Resort and the Disney Skyliner. It is extremely convenient in regards to transportation but also gives this entire area a “Boardwalk” type of feel. We put together a full walk around video tour of this new resort that you can watch below.

We are personally big walkers and that is why we walked the extra mile from the first Skyliner stop but there is a stop directly infront of the Riviera Resort as well. Upon arriving to the Resort, we walked through a tunnel that you’ll see after the Skyliner stop. This tunnel boasts incredible tile murals that might have been Molly’s favorite part of the resort. These original pieces are based off the Disney films “Peter Pan” as well as “Tangled” and instantly make you realize the artistic influence of the resort.

We then found ourselves by the first pool which is a quiet pool and has a very modern look to it. Although the resort itself is small, I am glad they included a quiet pool compared the loud and wild other pool section. The ground were all kept up well with a beautiful artistic and french influence. There are games including bocce to play as well as a beautiful walkway along the water as well.

The walkway brought us to the other pool which includes a water slide, a much bigger area, pool slide games and more. It is a perfect set up for the whole family and leaves a great view of the Carribean Beach Resort as well as the busy Skyliner. There is a beach side for guests to enjoy as an outside bar titled “Bar Riva.” They boast some unique drinks as well as some top of the line bar food.

Right next door to this bar is a highly rated new quick service location titled “Primo Piatto.” With a unique lunch and dinner menu, we were impressed with nearly everything on the menu. We then went inside to learn about the highly talked about “Topolino’s Terrace- Flavors of the Riviera.” Located on the top floor of the Resort, this rooftop dining experience is open for breakfast and dinner with some incredible views to show off.

The lobby and front of the resort and is very clean and organized with a shop in the main lobby as well as “Le Petit Cafe” which is a small coffee shop that offers gorgeous desserts and beverages. Located right next door is the ‘Voyageur’s Lounge” which was one of my favorite spots at this Resort. It is a small lounge that has a rustic feel to it but you can order adult beverages in a room filled with old time books and memorabilia from Walt Disney’s time at the Riviera. You can also play scrabble or Chess and enjoy this mini library for a quick breather or enjoy the photographs of Walt from all over Europe on the walls.

Overall, we were impressed with this new addition to the Disney Vacation Club family. Disney packs a punch in a small area and offers plenty to do for all ages. The location is fantastic in combination of the Carribean beach resort and is right next to the new Disney Skyliner. I hope you guys get to check this new resort out some time and enjoyed the video tour that went along with this article.
