Why you should visit Disney World’s Gingerbread houses this winter

It is that time of the year again at Walt Disney World and we all know what that means right? Christmas decorations everywhere, new merchandise and special events held all over property. It is easy to get caught up in the mainstream attractions during the holiday season but I am here to tell to check out Disney’s Gingerbread houses.

Molly and I had the chance to wander around the monorail resorts and put together a brand new video for you guys and what caught our attention the most were these gingerbread houses. We found one at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa as well as another at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. There are several others at various other Deluxe resorts around property but this article and video focuses on these two.

The Grand Floridian Resort & Spa boasts a life-size holiday house in the main lobby that features over 10,000 pieces of gingerbread. It has been at this resort for 21 years now and also comes from a recipe out of Austria. Although we visited a day before it’s official opening, you can purchase sweet treats out of the back of the house which make for excellent holiday gifts.

Next up on our trip around the monorail resorts was the Cinderella themed castle with an “it’s a small world” backdrop at the Contemporary Resort. This house was so impressive that it was hard to believe it was made of thousands of gingerbread pieces and chocolate blocks. It is also the 10th anniversary of this house.  I love how each house is unique and themed after something different as that gives you a reason to visit them all.

With that being said, what is stopping you on your next trip to The Walt Disney World Resort? You can find some of these other Gingerbread houses on Disney World property at Amorette’s Patisserie at Disney Springs, Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort, The Boardwalk Villas and The Beach Club which boasts it’s impressive Gingerbread Carousel.

We hope you get around to seeing these houses and buying some sweet treats! It is always free to window shop and spending a day checking these out is a nice break from the hustle that comes from visiting the parks.
