Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway previews underwater scene

mickey and minnie's runaway railway concept art

In the first new poster for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway (M&M’s) we get a first look at one of the scenes guests can expect to experience on the attraction. Riders on the railway will join Mickey, Minnie, and their pals in the cartoon world where the rules of animation are in effect.

The attraction is set in the “wacky and unpredictable” world of Disney’s newest Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts series. After entering the Chinese Theatre, guests will be invited to become the star of a cartoon short by stepping through a magic portal from the human world into the looney cartoon world. But don’t worry Mickey and Minnie will be around to save the day.

We previously learned the name of the animated short will be “Perfect Picnic,’ which sounds like the perfect set up for a lot of cartoon comedy.

The new poster features an underwater scene that teases some of the fun you’ll experience on the attraction.

Disney plans to build excitement by releasing new posters for M&Ms ahead of its opening, so we should learn more about the attraction soon.

With all the anticipation of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opening next month at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, I feel like Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway flying a bit under the radar of most fans. But I expect that to change once its opening date of Spring 2020 draws closer.

While there will always be lingering regret that M&M’s replaced “The Great Movie Ride” — considered by many to be the park’s signature attraction, or at least one that lived at the literal and metaphorical heart of the park — M&M’s promises a leap forward in theme park entertainment with its promised advances in screen and digital projection technology making a 2D display feel 3D.

Are you looking forward to your first ride on Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway?
