We recently visited the Magic Kingdom to check in on the progress of its next big attraction — a TRON themed rollercoaster in Tomorrowland. We’re pretty excited to get our own version of the TRON Light Cycle Powerrun from Shanghai Disneylandand our keeping a close eye on the construction progress.
As you can see in the video, the coaster track has no been almost completely surrounded in the structure that will enclose the main indoor section of the high speed thrilling coaster.
There is also a long outdoor run for the attraction. You can now see the pillars the queue structure and roller coaster will rest upon leading over toward the Walt Disney World Speedway and across where the train tracks will someday return.
Magic Kingdom’s TRON coaster is currently scheduled to open in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary in 2021. The Walt Disney World Railroad is expected to return to service in late 2020 (although some have said that has been pushed back further). That’s a long time to have one of the Magic Kingdom’s big attractions closed.
