With the addition of the Gran Destino tower, Disney’s Coronado Springs moved from the moderate resort category into a new classification – a lifestyle resort. Simply put that means Disney offers a wider range of rooms, from moderate to deluxe club level, in the same hotel and a broader choice of amenities.
The new Chronus Club Lounge in the Gran Destino tower is available to those who book club level rooms and suites in the tower. Unlike many other hotels where the concierge level rooms are all on the same couple of floors, the suites are spread out on each floor of the tower, but all will have access to the 15th floor and the Chronus club lounge.
Like other Disney club level lounges, there are a variety of spaces to sit and enjoy each other’s company, maybe play a board or card game or take in a Disney film or ESPN match on the television. There is also a small area dedicated to small bites and drinks available during the evening hours and for breakfast.
Unlike other concierge level clubs, the Chronus club does keep hours. It is open from 6:30am until 10pm daily. This means if you plan to stay late at the parks, you won’t be able to return to enjoy a nightcap in the lounge. Depending on the time of day service ranges from coffee, to breakfast or dinner, to light snacks.
There’s one more benefit to staying club level in the Gran Destino tower, it’s more affordable than concierge level suites at other resorts.
The Gran Destino tower caters mostly to business travelers and their families who may have expectations different from the typical Disney fan. Its not quite as swanky or Disney themed as other hotels, but it is in keeping with the rest of the tower.
