We were excited to be invited to Raglan Road Irish Pub for their 8th annual Great Irish Hooley. In addition to enjoying the talented dancers and musicians, we sampled a few new items from the updated menu that Chef Mark has crafted for guests.
Great Irish Hooley highlights:
For our media preview, the chef prepared sample sized portions of a few new dishes.
Foleys Finest Trout – Pan seared Foleys North Atlantic sea trout, Parmesan & dill gnocchi, sea greens, zucchini ribbons, cherry tomato & crisp caper dressing
Worth the Wait Beef Sandwich – 12 hour braised beef, sauteed mushrooms, crispy onions, garlic aioli and smoked cheddar on ciabatta
OMG burger – Dry-aged ground prime burger, Irish bacon, Dubliner Irish cheddar, crispy potato straws with Jameson Irish whiskey BBQ sauce
Shepherd’s to die for pie – Braise and pulled beef & lamb with root vegetables in a red wine jus with irish peat smoked mashed potato
Let there be no Rush Pork – 12 hour braised pork shoulder, creamed safe cabbage, pickled mustard seeds, red wine jus, caramelized apple puree.
Desserts included a Rocky Road ice cream and brownie dish and a Passion Fruit eton Mess with mango and lemon meringue.
The burger and the beef sandwich were our favorites and we will be back to try the full sized versions soon.
Of course, it wouldn’t be an Irish pub without beer and other cocktail options.
Traditional favorites like the Fish and Chips and Ribs with whiskey BBQ sauce are still on the menu.
The Great Irish Hooley continues through tonight into the wee hours of September 2. The new menu items, dancing and great music, will continue for the foreseeable future.
