Disney’s Animal Kingdom brings back Animation Academy Experience

The roots of the Walt Disney company are firmly planted in the rich soil of animation. Disney’s Animal Kingdom will explore how Disney’s animation history is connected to nature when ‘The Animation Experience’ opens at Conservation Station inside Rafiki’s Planet Watch.

This summer guests at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will once again be able to hop aboard the Wildlife Express train to Rafiki’s Planet Watch for an up close encounter with Disney’s animal care programs. Beginning July 11, guests will also get a chance to try their hand at drawing some of Disney’s most iconic animated animals.

The Animation Experience will help guests celebrate Disney’s “The Lion King” as it turns 25 in 2019. As part of the experience you will learn how live animals have inspired some of Disney’s most iconic characters. You’ll also be able to try your hand at drawing one of those characters by following the expert instructions of a Disney character artist.

Look for your favorite characters from Disney’s “The Lion King” to be among the featured characters at The Animation Experience inside Rafiki’s Planet Watch. Including: Simba, Zazu, Pumbaa, Timon, and more.

Each session will be different, so you are encouraged to visit often and try your hand at the complete set. Disney plans to add the experience as an option on its Disney Fastpass+. So reservations are open today for guests traveling 30 days out.

Walt Disney’s passion for wildlife helped to inspire Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Adding an animation academy into the mix seems like a perfect fit.
