Work continues on upgrading the main entrance to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in an effort to accommodate the larger crowds that are expected when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens in late August. However, a major milestone has been reached with much of guest traffic being shifted to recently completed areas.
So far there is a new expanded parking lot, expanded and improved bus loading and unloading zone, and new toll booth and entrance and exit roads to the parking lot. This has already greatly improved guest flow through the area.
The park also recently finished half of the new main entrance area including a new tram drop off and loading zone, new security screening structure, and new park exit. There has also been a bit of landscaping done.
Work remains to expand the security screening capacity, finish the Disney Skyliner station, and various other minor upgrades.
The sign for the Disney Skyliner is being installed.
We love how Disney has decided to keep and expand the theme of the beautiful Art Deco design Pan Pacific auditorium from California. The real thing is long gone, but if you’ve seen the movie “Xanadu” you can see what it looked like.
