Disney invites artists and designers to create Mickey and Minnie Mouse Ears

The Mickey Mouse Ear hats and Minnie Mouse ear headbands trend is not going away any time soon. It’s part of a growing sense of Disney Style that fans began and Disney’s merchandise team is continuing. Starting May 24th, guests at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will be able to pick up a new limited-release series of ear hats and headbands that are designed by notable celebrities, designers, and artists.

The designers will take the iconic silhouettes of Mickey and Minnie and give them a unique look specific to each collaborator.

Disney is planning to release new designs each month from high-end concepts like a bridal-inspired design using hand sewn crystal and pearl embroidery by Vera Wang, a decadent crystal-encrusted ear hat from The Blonds, a classic pink-puffed ear headband by Betsey Johnson, a mommy-and-daughter set by Cupcakes and Cashmere and a genuine crafted leather, or even black floral-inspired ear headband by COACH.

“As a lifelong lover of Disney, and the joy and happiness, not to mention fantasy Disney has inspired in all of us— I am both thrilled and honored to have partnered with them to create the Vera Wang Disney wedding veil with the iconic mouse ears so symbolic of their global brand,” said New York designer, Vera Wang. “The hand sewn crystal and pearl embroidery, together with the same silk and tulle fabrics that we use in our wedding gowns, bring a sense of authenticity and beauty to this signature headpiece. To brides and collectors alike, this is a special item to treasure and celebrate!”

Legendary supermodel, television host and entrepreneur Heidi Klum also designed a dazzling pair of ears coming this fall, as seen above. And in early 2020, another stunning ear headband will hit the shelves from American supermodel and entrepreneur Karlie Kloss.

“Bedazzling the most famous ears in the world is like a dream come true for me. I am still pinching myself, said Heidi Klum. “To all Mickey and Minnie fans – I hope you love wearing them as much as I do.”

Disney is asking some of its own artists to contribute too. Some designs from artists as featured in the WonderGround Art Galleries include: NOAH, SHAG, Jerrod Maruyama, Dave Perillo and John Coulter.

Many of the designs in the collection take inspiration from beloved Disney characters and Disney Parks attractions, including an Enchanted Tiki Room-inspired design pictured above and forthcoming designs by Disney Imagineers such as Kim Irvine, Kevin Rafferty and Joe Rohde.
