Get ready to hang-ten at Disney Springs. Ron Jon Surf Shop is moving in with its beach-inspired fashion trends, vacation essentials, and outdoor accessories and a tradition inspired by surf culture. Disney promises a unique design to the store, but no details have been released yet.
Signs are already up at the future location of the store. It will be to your left as you descend from the Lime Garage in the Town Center district of Disney Springs. This is the former home of the Kingdom Hearts preview and previously The Disney Corner (both temporary designs).
It’s a two level storefront with 10,000 square feet of retail space, which should give Ron Jon plenty of room to display a few of their iconic surf boards for a photo op, even though Disney Springs is miles away from either coast.
The original Ron Jon Surf Shop was founded in 1959 on the New Jersey shore by a man named Ron DiMenna who had passion for the sport of surfing that turned into a business selling newly manufactured fiberglass surfboards. The first store opened in 1961 in New Jersey and two years later the second opened in Cocoa Beach, FL.
I’m seeing a lot of positive feedback online from fans of Ron Jon Surf Shop who will no doubt be lining up when it opens in late 2019.
