Disney Animal Kingdom’s animal population grew by one very cute Masai giraffe calf today. Mom, Mara, gave birth today around 2pm on the Kilimanjaro Safari savanna.
Earlier in the day guests reported seeing Mara in labor out on the grasslands. The ‘little’ calf was a full six feet tall at birth!
Disney’s animal care team reports that mom and her calf are bonding well and appear to be in good health.
It’s too early to tell the gender of the calf, but both are out on view to guest on the savanna today.
We love good news like this and look forward to hearing more about Mara and her baby Giraffe soon.
