Calling it a flagship store, Downtown Disney has re-opened the Wetzel’s Pretzels location making pretzel lovers extremely happy. Wetzel’s Pretzels is a leading innovator of soft, fresh-baked pretzels and other fantastic menu items. The grand re-opening was celebrated with a huge party that featured a deejay and a giant pretzel.
The location went through an extensive renovation. It now features a California-inspired design with an indoor-outdoor feel and a modern upscale look. According to Disney, Wetzel’s commissioned two local artists to complete the look:
Trek Thunder Kelly and Dan Medina. Kelly, known for his large-scale murals—including the Sky Mural in Venice Beach—painted a mural that wraps around the inside of the store with images of Pasadena, Wetzel’s hometown, and 12 hidden pretzels. Medina, known for his bronze sculptures, such as the Antonio Aguilar monument in Los Angeles, designed custom door handles that create a pretzel when the doors are closed.
As Wetzel’s Pretzels is known for, fresh batches of pretzels are baked from scratch throughout the day from simple ingredients to meet demand. And with a location at Downtown Disney there will be a lot of demand for sure.
Whether you’re stopping at Wetzel’s Pretzels for their soft, fresh-baked pretzels, Wetzel’s Dogs, Bitz, or their refreshing fresh and frozen lemonade, you’ll be happy to have this gem of a location back open at Downtown Disney.
The first Wetzel’s opened 25 years ago and continues to bake its pretzels from scratch using simple ingredients such as flour, filtered water, yeast, and a touch of salt.
Of course, the best item on the menu is the Wetzel’s Dog with cheese. If you don’t agree, tell us your perfect pretzel in the comments.
