Have you driven by Disney’s Coronado Springs resort recently? You may have noticed the huge addition to the resort that looms over the old hotel and conference center. This 15-story hotel tower will have 545 rooms, 50 of which are suites, and will become the new focal point for guests.
Update: Disney Meetings & Events has released a new video that contains a virtual flyover of the expanded Coronado Springs:
Disney has shared a couple updated pieces of concept art that give us a peek at what to expect when it opens next summer. We have to say we’re impressed. At the top of the tower there will be a unique themed table-service restaurant that will feature incredible views of Walt Disney World.
The latest concept art does look a little more themed than initial drawings. Kinda of reminds me of the old Aladdin Casino in Las Vegas. More Disney than the initial concept art for sure.
The tower will also features a two story lobby for checking in, having a few drinks, relaxing, etc. I love this interior drawing. Very reminiscent of my favorite Herb Ryman concept art for EPCOT.
Disney has also been adding new dining options to Coronado Springs, including one on an island in the middle of Lago Dorodo, the 14-acre lake the resort is built around. The existing 1,800 rooms have all had upgrades with new fixtures, furnishings and lighting. The resort will also get an upgrade look with new sophisticated color palette and directional signage.
Coronado Springs tower is one of two big hotel expansions going on right now. The Rivera adjacent to Caribbean Beach is the other. However, many new Disney resort projects are rumored to begin soon.
