Enormous set of Disney’s Jungle Cruise revealed in Drone Video

Walt Disney Studios, in a bit of genius marketing, has a new video featuring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson introducing viewers to the amazing size and scale of the practical set for the upcoming movie “Jungle Cruise.” Using a drone, the video starts focused in on The Rock who introduces the film and it’s ties to Walt Disney and his original theme park Disneyland, then soar high above the production set. The end of the drone video really gives an idea of what a big movie Disney is planning.

In the video Johnson says “watch ’til the end and see one of the most awe inspiring & massive sets ever built from scratch. Walt Disney, this one’s for you buddy!”

The first thing I noticed was the roofs of those iconic boats, seemingly driven straight off the Jungle Cruise attraction. The second thing is how large a set was built for this movie. At least a half-dozen buildings, a number of boats, and a huge area for production support. Yes, it even appears to be set on a winding river.

I wonder where Trader Sam lives?

The movie production has set up shop in Hawaii, which is also Johnson’s home, and a beautiful and exotic backdrop for the film.

The movie will be based off the iconic Disney “Jungle Cruise” attraction. Similar to Disney’s first Priates of the Caribbean films, it will follow a plot using iconic scenes from the attraction as an outline, but it won’t be a recreation of the ride.

So far Disney has been hitting it out of the park with the promotion of this film. They’ve let the film’s stars lead the effort by displaying their own passion for the project and revealing some behind-the-scenes secrets that passionate fans will eat up. I can’t wait to see what they share next.

Disney’s Jungle Cruise is set to cruise into theaters on October 11, 2019.

  1. The set looks great, but these promos are making me nervous because they keep talking about the movie like it’s going to be an action/love movie. It’s lacking the character of the actual Jungle Cruise ride. There’s no whit. I’m still really excited!

  2. Yeah! Every movie Dwayne Johnson makes is a wonderful good time fun movie….this will be another good time fun! And since it is Disney? The effects and sets will have the Disney Magic touch!
