Director Rian Johnson (Looper) spoke at a recent fan event in Mexico about his plans for the fourth trilogy of Star Wars films from Lucasfilm, the second since Disney took over the Franchise from George Lucas. Johnson, who directed “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” is very excited about the process:
We’re gonna have to see. I’m just in the very beginning of starting to come up with what the new trilogy is going to be. But I can tell you this, what makes me so excited about it, is the idea of doing a new story on the big canvas of three movies in this world. There’s just so much potential and I can’t wait to jump into it.
Johnson also discussed what it was like working on “The Last Jedi” which was finished more than a month ago. (Note: it takes the video a second or two to get started)
Do you think it’s safe to assume the new trilogy won’t be about the Skywalker family? If not, what period of history in that galaxy far, far away would you like the new Star Wars trilogy to explore?
