Houston, we have blast-off. Lucasfilm debuted a new trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi during last night’s World Series game 7 giving fans a brand-new look at the highly-anticipated film. We also have a new plot summary:
In Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the Skywalker saga continues as the heroes of The Force Awakens join the galactic legends in an epic adventure that unlocks age-old mysteries of the Force and shocking revelations of the past.
There were a few new reveals in the trailer:
Oh my. Luke does not look happy to be on the Millennium Falcon again. But that was still a pretty amazing moment.
We get our first glimpse of Snoke’s throne room. He’s definitely got some long term governing goals.
There are a couple new space battle scenes (always good to recall that Star Wars is, at its most basic, a space opera).
Finn piloting a ship, probably in the battle on Crait, and probably yelling at Poe Dameron’s piloting skills again.
I love the new trailer. There are more quick cuts here, less mis-direction than the previous trailer, but I think we should get the message loud and clear from Disney, “This is not going to go the way you think.” THat’s not just Luke speaking (to Rey it looks like), but the film maker speaking to fans. Expect something different than what we think is coming. That’s the best news of all.
The film stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Kelly Marie Tran, Laura Dern and Benicio Del Toro.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in U.S. theaters on December 15, 2017.
