With Disney’s new Frozen The Musical already in preview performances, we’re now getting our first chance to see the cast in costume. Elsa (Caissie Levy), Anna (Patti Murin), and Hans (John Riddle) are decked out in their clothes from the coronation scene, while Kristoff (Jelani Alladin) is in the costume he wears through most of the movie.
There’s already a lot of talk about how fantastic a moment the “Let it Go” sequence is, including the transformation of Elsa from her coronation dress, to her icy blue one. Costume design is by two-time Tony and Olivier Award winner Christopher Oram
This Broadway-bound Frozen, a full-length stage work told in two acts, is the first and only incarnation of the tale that expands upon and deepens its indelible plot and themes through new songs and story material from the film’s creators; in fact, this new stage production features more than twice as much music as the film. Like the Disney Theatrical Broadway musicals that have come before it, it is a full evening of theatre and is expected to run over two hours.
The show plays now through October 1st in Denver, then will retool for a Broadway debut on February 18 of 2018.
Here’s some early feedback from the first couple nights of previews:
