Ant-man and the Wasp production begins

If any insects you saw today all seemed a bit more organized, perhaps it is because Marvel Studios production of “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” the sequel to the hit feature “Ant-Man,” began today. The announcement was made with a fun little video from the ‘set’ of the new movie.

We also get our first plot synopsis:

From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink: “Ant-Man and The Wasp.” In the aftermath of “Captain America: Civil War,” Scott Lang grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to re-balance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside The Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from their past.

Okay. That was cute, underwhelming, but cute.

Ant-Man and the Wasp returns from the original cast Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Peña, and Academy Award winner Michael Douglas. Also returning are Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer, Abby Ryder Fortson, Tip “T.I.” Harris, and David Dastmalchian. Joining the cast are: Michelle Pfeiffer and Laurence Fishburne, along with Hannah John-Kamen, Walton Goggins, and Randall Park.

“Ant-Man” director Peyton Reed (“Yes Man,” “The Break-Up”) returns to helm Marvel Studios’ action-adventure from a screenplay by Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers, Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari, and Paul Rudd. The film, which opens in U.S. theaters on July 6, 2018, will be filmed in Atlanta and San Francisco.

We’re hoping that ‘Giant-Man’ (last seen in Captain America: Civil War) makes an appearance too. Will you be looking forward to “Ant-Man and the Wasp?”
