The Streets of America section of Disney’s Hollywood Studios was lost to the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge expansion. But one area was left standing and now we’re learning the reason. Disney has decided to turn the area, called Grand Avenue, into a re-imagined take on present-day Downtown Los Angeles.
The buildings will reflect the vintage office buildings and warehouses and the vibrant districts and cultures of the city. One section will be turned into a new dining location – the Baseline Tap House. Themed to a corner pub, it will specialize in beer and wine from California along with some meet and cheese plate and assorted sides.
According to Disney the backstory of the Baseline Tap House is “In a quaint brick building, BaseLine Tap House celebrates the revitalization of Downtown Los Angeles by paying homage to the building’s former life as the Figueroa Printing Company, a mom-and-pop print house that had ties to the Disney studios in nearby Burbank. The space retains many of its cool architectural and mechanical details with exposed walls and old printing equipment and artifacts, blending the past and present in an inviting space. Outside is a charming tree-shaded terrace, perfect for a relaxing break in the day.”
Grand Avenue will also lead to one of the main ways for guests to enter Galaxy’s Edge, so this area is going to see a lot of foot traffic. It’s adjacent to MuppetVision 3D and the Sci-Fi Dine-in Theater Restaurant.
