The Walt Disney Company has been making feature length films since the groundbreaking animated feature “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.” Since that time they’ve made 56 animated movies at what is now the Walt Disney Animation Studios.
A new compilation of gorgeous shots throughout the history of Disney animation has been edited together by Jorge Luengo Ruiz. Nearly every movie has a scene in here. Grab a tissue and watch below:
Gives you a real appreciation of the art form. The music, btw, is from one of my favorite new artists — Jóhann Jóhannsson.
You’ll notice that most of these come from the hand-drawn animation era. Great animation concept artists, like Mary Blair and Eyvind Earle, deserve a lot of the credit for setting Disney down this path. I also like how some of the shots seem to repeat themselves (Mufasa and Simba looking out over the savannah echoed by Baymax and Hiro looking out over the city).
Did you have a favorite scene in the compilation?
