Dining changes at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Dropped in to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for a quick trip and another viewing of their holiday light show “Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM!” and noticed a few changes to some favorite dining locations at the park. The holiday season is usually a time for some menu experimentation, but a few of these changes caught me by surprise.

The old Toluca Legs location stopped serving Turkey Legs awhile ago. It was open today under its new name “Sunshine Day Cafe” serving a menu of holiday choices of drinks and desserts.

The biggest change comes to one of my favorite dining locations – Fairfax Fare. It used to feature BBQ chicken and ribs, but as of mid-November has switched to a decidedly southwest flavor. On the menu now is a beef empanadas platter, el pastor pulled pork sandwich, a fajita combo platter. Still available is a loaded baked potato, fairfax salad, and chili-cheese foot long hot dog.

I don’t know about you, but we used to get the chicken and ribs BBQ combo and split it. We did notice that you can get the same combo over at ABC Commissary now, but we’re hearing that some changes may becoming to that location’s dinner menu. It’s been a quick service counter location, and is expected to stay that way for lunch, but dinner is said to switch to a fast-casual made-to-order format. This means you place your order at the counter and then take a pager to your table to have your food delivered to you when it’s ready. No word yet how that will change the menu options.

There have also been some changes at Min & Bills, I tried the new Nachos, which weren’t bad, but weren’t anything to write home about either. With two foot-long hot dog choices (Carolina pulled pork and chili-cheese) and a pulled pork slider option, I might be back to try some other options soon.

What dining choices do you look forward to on your next visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios?

  1. We were actually there today with relatives. Ate at the Commissary. Split a chicken and ribs and an Asian chicken salad with my wife. Very tasty, although my wife did not like the rub on the chicken. Did the Back Lot a month ago (because the Commissary had already closed). We were not impressed.
