Disney World has just announced a brand new event for Walt Disney World and you won’t have to wait very long to experience it. The EPCOT International Festival of the Arts will run Jan 13-Feb 20 and will combine visual, performing, and (of course) culinary arts over the six weekends.
Disney has been looking for a replacement for the Pageant of the Masters art festival that used to dominate Downtown Disney for one weekend a year and they’ve been wanting to expand the ‘festival’ feel of EPCOT to more weekends. This new event satisfies both those needs nicely.
According to Disney the art of Disney legends Mary Blair and Herb Ryman (above) to current artists like Joe Kaminski and Costa Alaverzo will be featured. The American Gardens Theatre stage will feature a showcase of favorite music and Broadway talent in concert. Of course there will be amazing food direct from Disney’s Food Studios.
The festival runs Fridays through Mondays and new artwork is promised for each week (meaning each weekend will be an original experience).
This probably won’t draw Food and Wine level crowds, but it’s exactly the sort of thing that I love. And a sip and stroll through EPCOT while enjoying fine wine, art, and music is definitely one of life’s pleasures.
Are you excited for this brand new event at EPCOT?
This sounds great! The art show at what was then Downtown Disney was called “Festival of the Masters”.
Yes! I’ve missed Pageant of the Masters so much! I’m so excited about this, this made my day. :-)
