Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Olympics Trailer drops

The new trailer for Star Wars’ first non-saga film “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” dropped during tonight’s Olympic coverage on NBC and it was fantastic!

The trailer starts with the familiar Darth Vader theme as the camera pans over of a city on Jedha, a planet where those who worship the Jedi congregate and worship. We get an introduction to many of the film’s characters, then a look at how the mission is launched and some of the combat scenes that are sure to impress even more on the big screen.

I love the payoff at the end. It was teased by the music the whole trailer, then we finally see it, a shot of the back of Darth Vader’s distinctive samurai style helmet and the unmistakable sound of his machine assisted breathing. I also really liked that shot of the Death Star hovering over the planet’s surface.

I definitely felt my pulse increase as the trailer played. I can’t wait to explore parts of the Star Wars universe that have remained largely myth, untold until now.

We know this group of unlikely heroes will be successful in their mission to steal the plans for the first Death Star as we’ve seen the fruits of their labor in Episode IV (the first film that entered theaters in 1977). The pleasure will be in seeing how they pulled it off against overwhelming odds without a jedi on their team and only the force to guide them.

“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen, and Forest Whitaker. It’s directed by Gareth Edwards and produced by Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy.

“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” arrives in theaters December 16, 2016. Are you looking forward to seeing “Rogue One” in theaters?

  1. I saw the trailer earlier when I was browsing a movie site. And it made me search several blogs to confirm. I am really excited about this new Star Wars movie. I bet Felicity Jones will give it a fair and great Star Wars acting.
