Update – The Disney Fantasy made it back to Port Canaveral this morning just a few hours late. No word if this afternoon’s departure will be delayed.
Passengers aboard the Disney Fantasy have been informed that due to mechanical issues, the ship will not be stopping at Castaway Cay tomorrow. Instead it will continue back to port. The ship is currently on the day 6 its 7-night Eastern Caribbean cruise
According to Heather Keller whose tweets document the troubles, the ship’s port engine is not operational and can’t navigate at full speed.

Checking MarineTraffic.com, we can see that the Disney Fantasy currently is cruising at 17.2 knots, which is a bit slower than its usual cruising speed of 22 knots when in the Eastern Caribbean.
While passengers won’t get to experience Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island, they did stop at St. Thomas and Tortola. Guests have also been told that they will receive a 20% discount off a future cruise and a $200 onboard credit.
Our advice? You’re on board the best floating Disney hotel in the world, make the best of it. Take in the shows, the food, and use that ship credit for some extra fun. You might find it more enjoyable than Castaway Cay.
