Marvel Television has released its new show Jessica Jones today on Netflix. Jessica Jones is the second Marvel show that is being released exclusively on Netflix and the second show of the crossover Defenders series. Marvel gave us our first hero that will become a Defender in April, with the release of Daredevil. Now we get to dive into the life of Jessica Jones as she tries to rebuild her life working as a private investigator. While working as a private investigator in New York, a haunting figure from Jessica’s past emerges and begins terrorizing her and wreaking havoc wherever he goes. His name is Kilgrave, and he is the main villain that Jessica struggles with in the series.
Jessica Jones is played by “Breaking Bad” actress Krysten Ritter. Kilgrave will be portrayed by David Tennant from the british TV series “Doctor Who”. This series will also introduce us to the third Defender who will later be getting his own show, Luke Cage. Luke Cage will be played by Mike Colter.
The early reviews have been astounding and it is clear that this show builds on the great foundation Marvel laid with Daredevil. Where Daredevil was categorized as a crime show, Jessica Jones is considered a darker psychological thriller. If you’re a Marvel fan or if you are a fan of Daredevil, there is a great chance that you will enjoy this show!
Note: The Netflix shows in the series have a darker tone than the Marvel movies and Marvel TV shows that are featured on cable. These shows are not suitable for children.
Who will be binge watching Jessica Jones this weekend on Netflix? If it’s you, come back and let us know what you think!
