A new “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” TV ad spot premiered during the TGIT block on ABC last night. It contains a few tantalizing new snippets from the movie in its 60 seconds. Keep your eyes open:
I am trying to avoid major spoilers, but I can’t take my eyes off these trailers. Here are some of the new scenes I spotted in this trailer
We see Finn’s Tie-Fighter escaping from a Star Destroyer launch bay.
With the Millennium Falcon behind them, Han Solo hand something that could be a blaster (or ???) to Rey. Looks like there’s a battle ahead. (If we look close, I think we can see Rey holding the blaster as they enter the temple in another scene.)
There’s a familiar looking scene with generals from the Resistance gathered around a table. Looks like General Leia, Han Solo and a few other familiar faces are there.
We see Finn attacking a Storm Trooper with his blue lightsaber, but the Storm Trooper appears to have some sort of defense against the saber. I wonder if they can aim better now too.
Han and Chewie are in some rubble and Han emerges with his blaster firing. This appears to be a continuation of the scene where Han, Chewie, and Rey are seen surrendering.
That Han Solo, still a badass after all those years.
There are a few other snippets of new footage in there too. “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” rolls into theaters on December 18th, although you still may be able to find a few tickets available for the evening of the 17th. I’m planning to see it in IMAX format, how about you?
