Last night marked the final Halloween party at the Magic Kingdom and the first night of Christmas at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Yep, the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights started a four day ‘soft opening’ last night.
Like all soft openings, this is subject to change, but all guests of DHS will be able to enjoy the light display through the 4th. Then there’s a cast preview on the 5th. The show officially opens on November 6th.
There was some confusion about whether this preview was just for DVC or Annual Passholders, but it is open for all guests in the park.
Due to the major changes coming to DHS, including Toy Story Land and Star Wars Land, this will be the last year for Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights at the park.
If you were going to save the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights, where would you move it?
What about the Boardwalk? The lights would looks spectacular reflected on the water!
PLEASE move them to Epcot….that would be my choice. I sure hope they keep them somewhere….anywhere….even Disney Springs…I don’t care….I just want Disney World to keep them.
Interesting that they are saying 11/5 is a Cast member preview. In the Passholder email, it said “Join us for an early peek at The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights, 11/1–11/5/15”. Wonder what happens if an AP holder shows up on 11/5?
We also said it was a soft opening, so things are subject to change.
Move it anywhere! I would hate to see these lights go away forever! They are the definition of Christmas to me. There is so much open space on the Walt Disney World property it doesn’t even need to be in one of there theme parks.
EPCOT is a good idea. They used to have a great light setup along the main street to World Showcase. That disappeared years ago. Would be a great location. Makes for a spectacular exit after the fireworks.

I am not sure why they need to move it at all….neither new attraction is slated to be where Osborne Lights is fro what I understand….sinc the street is also used for movies on occasion. But clearly, it needs to be somewhere…anywhere…for many of us, seeing these lights is a high-point and helps us get through what is a very difficult time of year. Not everyone has a wonderful, celebrate with family season….the the lights give us a feeling of joy and happiness.
