In a moment of brilliant marketing, The Muppets are capitalizing on the current trend of Hollywood breakups to generate some viral marketing of their own. Miss Piggy and Kermit appeared together at the Television Critics Association press tour to promote the upcoming ABC show focused on The Muppets, which chronicles Miss Piggy’s talk show “Up Late with Miss Piggy” in mockumentary style.
Here they are with Bill Prady, executive producer, and Bob Kushell, writer taking pot shots at each other in the press event:
While The Muppets have been planning this breakup for a while (if you remember the 10-minute pitch video, a central part of that was the separation of Miss Piggy and Kermit), it’s cool to see that they can be a little nimble on their feet and strike while the meme is hot.

Disney needs to clone whomever they hired to do the social media marketing for The Muppets and set them to work on some of the network’s other shows. Some other Muppets on Twitter include @SpicyPrawn, @FozzieJokes, and just joining recently are the @electricmayhem.
The press tour also confirmed some of the big stars who are scheduled to stop by the show, including Reese Witherspoon and Imagine Dragons.
The show is currently filming on stages 6 and 7 of the Disney Studios lot in Burbank. We can’t wait to see what they release.
