“The Whispers” – Summer Series Preview

1

Lily Rabe. Lily Rabe, y’all. LILY RABE! That’s really the only thing you need to know about the show for you to realize that it’s amazing. There were 3 episodes available to view, and I devoured all 3. I was on the edge of my seat. The genre-bending sci/fi-political-family-drama-thriller follows Claire Bennigan as she tries to figure what the heck is happening to children across the Washington D.C. area.

The children are all playing with their imaginary friend, named Drill, who talks to them through lights and is leading them to do horrendous things, one of them sets up the series. This is what the commercials are showing, and what got me excited for a program. However, there is a whole other plot line based on Claire’s recently passed husband, who died during a flight with a Special Ops team.

So many different plots and genres are combined into one riveting program. The children are some of the best child actors I’ve ever seen, staying creepy, while innocent simultaneously. Lily Rabe leads with an iron fist, once again killing it on TV.

This show has a lot of questions to be answered, and I cannot wait to see what they are. Also, I would like to give much kudos to the team behind the program for allowing it to have a FULL opening credits sequence, complete with creepy theme song. We seem to be in the middle of a “TV Theme Song Renaissance” and I, for one, and so excited about it.

If you like American Horror Story, The X-Files or V, you will LOVE The Whispers.

The Whispers premieres Monday June 1st at 10pm. Be sure and check this one and try NOT to get hooked.
