Drawing off the success of “The Office” and ABC’s “Modern Family”, the new Muppets show we heard about a month ago, is said to be focusing on a mockumentary style production. That sounds absolutely Gonzo!
Here’s the elevator pitch from ABC:
“The Muppets return to prime time with a contemporary, documentary-style show that—for the first time ever—will explore the Muppets’ personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, break-ups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires; a more adult Muppet show, for kids of all ages.”
The pilot will be directed by Randall Einhorn (Parks and Recreation) and Bill Prady and Bob Kushell are writing the script for ABC. The name of the new show is said to be simply “The Muppets.”
There is already good buzz about “The Muppets” and if Disney likes the pilot, the new version of Jim Henson’s cast of familiar characters will go straight to series.
Hat Tip to @TheMuppetMindSet for a look at the new series title:
What do you think?
The premise is rather interesting. I’m not sure about the logo, though. The typewriter style seems a little… less vivid. Then again, it is for the pilot.
