If you’re a long time fan of Disney’s Contemporary Resort you probably have been wondering what happened to all that fascinating modern art the original design team installed throughout the hotel and grounds? Well, wonder no longer. Walt Disney World Resort recently donated 52 pieces of contemporary art to the Downtown Arts District as part of the company’s commitment to promoting a vibrant art scene in Orlando.

The international collection of colorful lithographs and pastels, unique woodcuts and etched art were part of a collection exhibited at Disney’s Contemporary Resort since the 1970s. The art has been stored away after various hotel renovations over the years, but now it’s getting ready to see the light of day again.

“The quality and caliber of the artists and their work is very exciting,” said Barbara Hartley, executive director of Downtown Arts District. “We intend to showcase the art in downtown for Central Florida residents and visitors to enjoy.”

Might be time for a roadtrip to Downtown Orlando next time you’re in town.
