Disney Channel Stars to return with “Frozen” cover

dcstars-frozen

My childhood was based around two things: Disney Channel original programming and Disneymania CDs. Let me explain how an average summer day for 7 year old Marshal would go. I’d head to my daycare at about 8am and I’d immediately turn on my Discman and listen to either Disneymania 2, 3, or 4. (For those unfamiliar, Disneymania was a series of CDs where Disney Channel and other pop stars would sing covers of Disney classics) I would eventually listen to all 3 CDs twice by the end of the day, then I’d return home and watch That’s So Raven,  Lizzie McGuire, and one DCOM. That occurred every day for about 3 summers.

One of the best moments on the Disneymania albums, though it only happened twice, was when the Disney Channel Stars did a recording as a group. “Circle of Life” and “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes” both were covered by the crop of DC stars at the time. They are two of my all-time favorite Disney songs, covers or otherwise.

Well, to make me the happiest person on the planet, Disney announced today that the Disney Channel Stars are returning as group to cover “Do You Want To Build A Snowman?” It will premiere July 18th on Radio Disney, while the music video will premiere on the Watch Disney Channel app the same day, but on TV on the 20th (as a part of Disney Channel’s Frozen Weekend).

Just about every cast member of every show is involved, but while the past group songs would have every person singing had at least one solo, they have featured soloists and people who will provide harmonies. Soloists include Rowan Blanchard (who literally is my favorite person of all-time, and that is only after 2 episodes of Girl Meets World) and, for the first time ever, ADULTS, like Kevin Chamberlin (from Jessie) and Leigh-Allyn Baker (from The 7D and Good Luck Charlie). The harmonies will be provided by other Disney Channel stars and Radio Disney DJs, ’cause why not?!

I am uber excited for this and cannot wait to see if it lives up to the greatness the others created during my childhood. While still excited, I still am a little curious on why this Frozen song. Any other song from the film would’ve made more sense than this, however, I’m hoping it does well so this tradition can continue on. Let me know your thoughts on Disney Channel Stars songs below. Until next time…Have a Magical Day!
