Nothing makes a Disney movie like its heroes and villains, and The Disney Channel has rounded up some great actors to play them in its upcoming made-for-TV movie, Descendants. The original movie explores the lives of the teenage children of some of Disney’s most iconic heroes and villains as they attend the kingdom’s hottest prep school.
Recently cast in the adult “parent” roles are Kristen Chenoweth (“Pushing Daisies”) as Maleficent, Kathy Najimy (“Sister Act”) as Snow White‘s Evil Queen, Maz Jobrani (“The Interpreter”) as Aladdin‘s Jafar, Wendy Raquel Robinson (“The Game”) as 101 Dalmation‘s Cruella de Vil, and Melanie Paxson (“Saving Mr. Banks”) as Cinderella‘s Fairy Godmother.
Descendants also includes Dove Cameron as Mal, daughter of Maleficent; Booboo Stewart as Jay, son of Jafar; Sofia Carson as Evie, daughter of the Evil Queen; Cameron Boyce as Carlos, son of Cruelle de Vil; and Mitchell Hope as Ben, the son of Belle and the Beast.
“High School Musical” director Kenny Ortega will direct the film, which will air on The Disney Channel in 2015. This might make The Disney Channel at least somewhat interesting again. What do you think?
