Has ever a park icon been so universally loathed (pun intended) as the big blue Mickey’s Sorcerer’s Hat at Disney’s Hollywood Studios? Still, it has grown to possess a certain presence just by pure persistence. I couldn’t help but snap a few photos last night as we left the near deserted park after the Disney Parks Blog meetup for Blank – A Vinylmation Love Story.
I would prefer the hat be relocated to the very front of the park, on the other side of the front gates or perhaps to the new Disney Springs where it can be perched atop one of the parking garages like a sly wizard. But the location in front of the Chinese theater, itself the very definition of Hollywood icon, seems to scream for relief.
Rumors persist that the Imagineer in charge of the park doesn’t like the hat either, that the hat will be moved as soon as they can find replacement for the merchandise sales from that location, that all they’re waiting for is approval for the park makeover treatment that has been so successful for Disney California Adventure. Lot’s of rumors, but nothing official. Wish I could believe them.
If you had your druthers, where would you move the hat?
put it anywhere but where it is….
The bottom of Bay Lake?
The hat could disappear forever, and I certainly wouldn’t miss it. That the plunked it down in front of the iconic Chinese Theatre facade? It STILL boggles my mind.
I don’t know, the hat kind of seemed to grow on me after being there for awhile…

If they move it outside the gates, what about the tree? I would hate to lose the Christmas tree out front to make way for the hat.
Tree could go in the park in Streets of America where it belongs
When pigs fly!
