Disney’s particular brand of magic does not usually require augmentation with spirits, unless you’re at the Haunted Mansion, but when I dine out at a nice restaurant like Disney’s California Grill, I do enjoy a glass of wine or a well-crafted cocktail with my meal. So I was happy to get an opportunity to speak with General Manager and head Sommelier Michael Scheifler about the choices for my next visit.
Next time you’re at California Grill, I whole-heartedly recommend the Sake Martini, it is as transporting as a cocktail can be. Scheifler also grew up in a wine region of Austria and has used that refined palate to bring over 250 of the finest wines to Orlando with a large number available by the glass. But here’s a secret, Scheifler also knows something about beers, in fact he brews craft beers at home. He’s selected a diverse group of craft brews and ciders for the restaurant and you’ll be sure to find a match there as well.
You don’t even have to have a reservation to enjoy the wonderful beverage menu. The lounge is open to walk-ins, and even serves the full menu. Note, during holidays and other busy times, they will limit the number of guests in the lounge, so be prepared with a backup plan (many other great options are just a monorail hop away).
What are your feelings on drinking why at Walt Disney World? Will you avail yourself of the selections on your next visit to California Grill?
