Workers are all over the Magic Kingdom working on projects large and small. Changes are coming at such a rapid pace these days, it’s hard to keep pace with what’s new. Still, I have to try. Some of these pictures are a few days old, but I think they’re exciting anyway, and if you haven’t seen them, they’re new to you, right?. I’ve got almost 50 photos to share in this week’s photo update. We’ll cover New Fantasyland, Rapunzel’s Village, Tinker bell and more!
Today we’re going to get started with some of the final touches coming to Storybook Circus as the land races closer to opening. Make sure you scroll down to the end for a special treat you won’t want to miss. (Note: you can click on the image to see it larger, but you’ll have to click on the link to the full size image on that page to see it in the largest size I uploaded.)
The new Marquee for Storybook Circus is almost done. Looks nice too. Not quite as elaborate as the original concept art showed, but it fits in well with the rest of the area.
They’ve also added some additional signs to build excitement for what you’ll see at Storybook Circus. Just like at a real circus. So it fits.
The marquee does light up at night. Not quite as many illuminated letters as I would like to see, (‘storybook’ should have been in lights too) but the effect is still to draw you in like a beacon when its on.
The big top souvenir shop has its sign and looks ready to open from the outside. It has an illuminated sign at night too.
The entrance sign for the meet and greet tent (aka pete’s sideshow) is a lot less complicated than the marquee and souvenir shop. But very detailed, be sure to view the larger versions of these images to see it.
The yellow tent is finally revealing its purpose. It will be the fast pass distribution for Barnstormer and Dumbo, plus it will have seating to enjoy refreshments of some kind. A much need addition to the land.
Okay. You’ve reached the end of part one. So what’s the treat? It’s a link to FoxxFur’s critique of Storybook Circus. She applies her in depth understanding of what makes Walt Disney World’s various components come together to form one cohesive story to this new addition and the results are glorious.
I must confess: even though all of New Fantasyland will be beautiful and a worthy addition to the WDW legacy, Story Circus is slowly becoming my favorite part of WDW. I visited WDW last July, and even though the Circus was still incomplete I was floored by all the color, detail and fun. These small touches truly add a lot to the experience. I can’t wait to see how the inside of the Big Top Souvenirs and Pete’s Silly Sideshow tents look like!
