After an accident with a similarly constructed attraction, the Downtown Disney Balloon ride “Characters in Flight” has been closed for inspection. The accident yesterday at Ocean Park, Hong Kong, injured four on the SkyStar balloon and one of the ground after a 3 meter gash opened in the balloon sack causing it to fall 20 meters or so at a pace more rapid than usual.
Above is a picture of the Orlando balloon from May of this year with some discoloration showing on the balloon. That probably has nothing to do with the quality of the air sack on the balloon, but it’s nice to know they’re checking it out.
