To start the results show, Mary J. Blige sang while Val (he’s still around, ladies!) danced. J.R. and Karina (who gave us the week’s most emotional performance) and Ricki and Derek (this week’s leaders) were the first couples to find out that they would dance again next week. The first surprise of the night came when Chaz and Lacey found out they were also safe. Lacey’s shocked expression said it all. Chaz’s fans did their job, rescuing him from his place at the bottom of the leader board. The three couples shared a big group hug. Everyone still loves Chaz!
Chynna and Tony nabbed this week’s encore performance. The second group of results revealed that Rob and Cheryl and Nancy and Tristan were safe while Carson and Anna and Hope and Maks were in jeopardy. The audience booed this news, as their two dances were among the most appreciated of the night.
Next came a fun segment, “Six Degrees of Dancing With the Stars,” where we learned the strange ways in which the cast was connected, even before their days in the ballroom. Then the troupe, with MORE Val (who was partnered with Peta), danced to the theme from “Gone With the Wind.” Next week’s results show will feature former DWTS champion Julianne Hough, returning to dance to music from her new movie, “Footloose.” Whether “Footloose” should have been remade is another post entirely. But, I will take this opportunity to tell movie producers to leave “Dirty Dancing” alone!
Estelle was joined by Chubby Checker to sing “The Twist” and “Let’s Twist Again.” A dapper-looking Len took the dance floor for a brief moment to show us he’s still got the moves. Yay, Len! Mary J. Blige appeared again to sing her latest single. Chynna and Tony and David and Kym learned they were safe, but Kristin and Mark found themselves in jeopardy.
After it was revealed that Carson and Anna were safe, Len told Brooke it was madness that either one of the remaining couples was going home. The entire ballroom seemed shocked when Tom announced that Kristin and Mark wouldn’t be back next week. Kristin admitted she was surprised (she looked stunned), and Mark had nothing but praise for his partner. This elimination is another reminder that fans must vote to keep their favorite couples dancing!
Next week, the couples will be dancing to movie theme songs. Any ideas what they should be? I’ll be watching!
