Once again Disney’s Animal Kingdom has wowed us with cuteness and impressed us with the power of conservation. A new 311 pound baby elephant joined the park’s African elephant herd on Wednesday. Disney’s team of animal care professionals play an important part in protecting this endangered species and a new calf will help sustain the elephant population.
This is the sixth elephant born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The others are:
Tufani, a male, born in 2003;
Kianga, a female, born in 2004;
Nadirah a female, born in 2005;
Tsavo, a male, born in 2008; and
Luna, a female born 2010.
Watching young animals frolic on the savannah is always one of the highlights of Kilimanjaro Safaris. So I predict a lot of rides in my future.
More details, baby elephant facts, and another photo below the jump:

Walt Disney’s fascination with outer space has been evident since the 1955 Disneyland episode “Man In Space” and the X1 attraction at Disneyland. So it’s nice to see Disney keep up the tradition with a special space themed Mickey Mouse Clubhouse special.
Yesterday, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse welcomed NASA astronauts Chris Ferguson, Doug Hurley, Sandy Magnus and Rex Walheim to The Disney Studios in Burbank, CA where they greeted kids from the East Los Angeles Boys & Girls Club and gave a special presentation on their final space shuttle mission before the kids enjoyed a preview screening of Disney Junior’s new “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Space Adventure” special premiering on Disney Channel Monday, September 12.
Isaiah Mustafa, better known as the “Old Spice Guy” has been announced as a recurring member of the upcoming ABC “Charlie’s Angels” reboot.
Mustafa will appear as the former fiancé of angel Kate Prince (played by Annie Ilonzeh.) His role, Ray Goodson, is a police detective who has a run in or two with the net batch of angels (via TVLine.) Mustafa has been seen on NCIS, Castle, Chuck and in the movie “Horrible Bosses” but this is probably his largest role since appearing as the face of Old Spice on a number of commercials and funny YouTube videos.
Charlie’s Angels premieres on Thursday September 22nd at 8pm, but Mustafa’s episodes are set to begin a few weeks after. Watch the trailer for Charlie’s Angels below, as well as the most popular “Old Spice Guy” commercials after the jump.
