Walt Disney World has released a list of injuries that occurred on attractions for the second quarter of 2011. It’s not long and not surprising. However, having witnessed a couple of non-attraction related injuries in the park myself (and a friend having witnessed a death of a guest), I have to wonder if this list is detailed enough to give a full sense of what it means to be safe while on vacation.
For Walt Disney World there were six injuries, three of which occurred on Space Mountain. Typhoon Lagoon, Mission:Space, and Expedition Everest each claimed a victim as well. Five of these were probably related to pre-existing conditions and one was a broken leg at the Surf Pool in Typhoon Lagoon (which could happen at any wave pool). So a pretty clean record all in all.
