Imagineer Previews new Paradise Pier sections of DCA

Disney has a new video highlighting the transformation of the former Route 66 section of California Adventure into an extension of Paradise Pier. The improvements are scheduled to be complete by July 1. The main thrust of the special behind-the-scenes tour with Imagineer Larry Nikolai is Goofy’s Flight School, but you also get to see some of the new Victorian era placemaking going on.

Does this have you excited about the changes coming to that section of the park?

  2. I’m very glad that it’ll be prettier, and more landscaping is wonderful! DCA is really bare compared to Disneyland’s lush grounds, even granting that Disneyland’s plants have had decades to grow.

However, I still think that Paradise Pier was a bad idea in the first place. It’s not very interesting as a land, and putting in carnival rides is a waste of space in a park where space is at a premium. I’m glad they’re doing something, but there’s only so much they can do without tearing the whole thing out and starting over.
