Back in the day, there was a time on The Disney Channel when you couldn’t shake a tree without Bill Nye The Science Guy falling on your heard. Eventually Disney sours on its stars and Bill Nye The Science Guy shown the door after some shoddy treatment from The Walt Disney Company. Blame it on the Eisner regime, if you like.
That stance appears to be thawing with the news that Nye will be appearing in EPCOT as part of the National Engineers Week talks this week. Bill Nye’s presentations are scheduled for 11 a.m., noon, 1 and 2 p.m. on Wednesday in Innoventions West. Anyone with EPCOT admission can attend.
Bill Nye has been doing some amazing things recently and I think his spirit would fit in well at EPCOT with a larger presence. Perhaps in a ‘Science Pavilion’ to replace the Wonders of Life area.
Bill Nye, although a good teacher, is a total diva. He’s also someone who wouldn’t be anywhere near as well known without some really good writers…
As someone in the Science Education field, I can assure you that many of us were quite happy to see him be put in his place by the Eisner regime…
Bill was one of my advisors for “College Bowl”, a team trivia competition, back in our hometown of Seattle. We also traveled in some of the same theater circles. He was never anything but kind, gracious, and lovely. I’m tempted to go see him on Wednesday.
I wonder where in Innoventions West they’ll hold this thing? I happen to know of a small theater that’s sitting empty in there … :(
