Two suicides by park cast members in the last six weeks has Disneyland Paris Resort a bit on edge. These two tragedies are piled upon tense relations between one of the park’s trade unions and park management.
Both suicides were from cooking staff at Disney restaurants. The trade union claims the employees were working under humiliating conditions, but Disney had just been cleared by French authorities for their employment practices the day before one of the deaths. Disney also points to factors outside work that contributed to at least one of the deaths.
Regardless things are not all ‘spit-spot’ at the “Happiest Place in Europe”. You don’t have striking workers marching through the park if it is.
I hope everyone is able to come to the table and resolve any difficult working conditions and other contributing factors before future problems develop.

I wrote about this too just before I got to DLP for work. And I actually now understand that the people working in the restaurants here, especially in higher position such as managers, would kill themselves (though it’s such a horrible thing to say), because of the work. They have a humongous amount of pressure of selling, selling and selling and making profit so they are irritated and reminds us cast members to sell as much as possible. Even this week I got to know we can’t use rubber gloves while we’re cleaning the guest area (trays and trash bins), because they have to save money. Crazy is the word!
