I love it when athletes and celebrities drop in at Walt Disney World. For the most part, my philosophy is to let them enjoy their vacation like any other tourist. But when they take the time to make a guest’s visit that much more special, I have to give them props. This week two high school baseball teams competing at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Florida received just such a magical moment before their game on Tuesday afternoon.
C.C. Sabathia, pitcher for the New York Yankees, made a special trip out to the youth fields after throwing in a spring training game versus the Atlanta Braves.
Sabathia took time out of his day to throw out an honorary first pitch, chat with the teams and give pitching tips to Adam Kramer of Wausau High School in Wausau, WI and Steven Giaononi of Whitney Young Magnet in Chicago, IL.
Wausau High School and Whitney Young Magnet join hundreds of other high school and collegiate athletic teams that come to ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex to train in their specific sport.
After his day on the fields Sabathia enjoyed the afternoon with his family at the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks.
Here’s some video of the day provided by the Walt Disney World press team:
