While it may not be alright for employees to leave their guns in their cars while at work, it is apparently okay for guests to bring their guns, as long as they leave them in their cars (unless being used for self-defense apparently). We know this because a guest parking at Downtown Disney shot himself while preparing to stow his gun in his car. No charges have been filed.
It turns out that Former Disney Security Guard Edwin Sotomayor’s court filing to get his job back was more of a petition than a lawsuit and a ruling on his termination might come as soon as this week.
Meanwhile a Disney employee who was arrested on suspicion of child porn back in June has now been charged with the crime and arraigned.
It’s not illegal to bring a gun to Disney. It’s just against their policy. You can’t get arrested for violating a Disney policy unless that violation is also a criminal act. Employees who take a gun into the park may face termination, and guests who take a gun into the park may get kicked out of the park.
This, of course, only matters if they find out. But you’d have to be stupid to let them find out, knowing what their policies are. They can’t legally search your car or your person without your consent.
